I would like to warn anybody who will listen about the risks of wicker. Yes, wicker. Mostly the thick type that is much more durable than the thinner wicker most baskets are created of. I understand you might think that this is extremely trivial, but it isn't. It's a real hazard.
Have you ever had a wicker splinter to date deep into your nailbed that you want to tear your nail completely off just to get it out? The rationale for the aggravation and pain from it is because of the all of nerves at the end of your finger. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. It's debilitating. You can’t even use the finger using the splinter in it because of how agonizing it is.
The most embarrassing part of all of this is when I went towards the doctor to possess it removed. The girl behind the counter exactly where I stuffed out my insurance coverage information requested me what I was there for. I quietly mentioned it was a splinter and I think I heard her snicker. The doctor even seemed to think it was silly, till he really noticed the splinter. It was unreachable without really numbing the region and tearing at the nail to get it out. Right after the Novocain wore off, the pain connected using the splinter becoming pulled out was even worse than when it was in. I will never own another piece of wicker. I surprise if there is a fear named after becoming scared of wicker.
